A life-long resident of Saline County, Sheriff Rodney Wright has represented Saline County as Sheriff since January 2015. He is currently on the Arkansas State Crime Lab board appointed Governor Sara Sanders in 2023, and the Arkansas 911 board appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson in 2019. He also is on the Arkansas Sheriff’s Executive board and served as president 2022-2023.

Prior to being sheriff, Sheriff Wright was a police officer with the City of Benton from 1994-2014. Sheriff Wright progressed through the ranks and was commanding the Criminal Investigation Division at the rank of Lieutenant. Sheriff Wright also served as the Tactical Team Commander of the Benton SWAT team from 2006-2014 while being a member of the team for 16 years.

After becoming elected, Sheriff Wright led efforts to enhance public safety, strengthen community trust and implement effective, fiscally responsible solutions to address the department’s budget challenges.

Sheriff Wright has been very active in programs to protect and assist with protecting children while being a board member of CASA and an advocate for the John 3:16 Ministries in Arkansas.

Sheriff Wright is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Arkansas Law Enforcement Academy. He received an Associate Degree in Electronics from Southern Technical College. He has a son and daughter. The Wright family resides in the city of Benton.
